Supported Formats
Sillence currently supports importing the following model formats:
- OBJ
- USDZ
Importing a Model
- Open or create a scene.
- Choose Import.
- Select an OBJ or USDZ file from your Mac.
- The model will be added to the current scene.
After Import
After a model is imported, it appears in the viewport and is added to the scene hierarchy.
When available, imported materials and textures are loaded automatically. You can then adjust placement, scale, materials, lighting, and camera composition inside Sillence.
Positioning Imported Models
Imported assets can be moved, rotated, and scaled to fit your scene. Sillence also includes placement tools designed to make scene assembly faster and more comfortable.
- Move objects
- Rotate objects
- Scale objects
- Snap objects onto other objects
- Place objects automatically on the ground
- Adjust object pivots
Common Issues
The model appears too large or too small
Imported assets may use different real-world scales depending on the application they were created in. Use the scale controls to resize the model after import.
The model imports without materials
Some files may not include complete material or texture information. In that case, you can assign or adjust materials manually in Sillence.
The model appears far from the scene center
Some assets are exported with an offset pivot or distant origin. Use the transform and pivot tools to reposition the asset.
Preparing Models Before Import
For best results, prepare complex models in a dedicated modeling application before importing them into Sillence.
- Remove unnecessary geometry
- Apply or check object scale
- Keep texture files organized
- Use clear object names when possible
- Export only the objects needed for the scene
